I really love the plates on the collar that can flip forward, and also how like, the shoulders themselves feature shield binders that have a hardpoint on them! Prior FM designs usually went with shoulders either having shields, or having weapons, but usually not both, so this sleek machine feeling overequipped makes it feel a bit more like a next-gen wanzer to me as well.

I know a lot of thoughts on the game were mixed but with it being in the future of the Front Mission universe, the Volk feels like a suitable followup to prior wanzers. These higher difficulties must definitely be for new game+ only and not a fresh game, as the sheer increase in damage and endurance of the enemy overwhelms any strategy the player may employ.The Volk! A neat wanzer from Left Alive, the Volk is a design I really enjoy. Of course none of this mattered because just one Calm unit managed to moved in range and ended Royd with a single missile to the body, causing a Game Over Despite focus fire with Royd and Sakata, I still couldn't bring down that single unit, essentially forcing me to use the OCU soldier (which anyone who played the original would know never to use in order to give the other 2 main characters all the exp) and it still wasn't enough. While the first Gust unit you encounter had nearly 120 HP on the body, that's almost late game endurance. Then the prologue mission starts, and the first thing I notice is that your own HP is not scaled to the enemy's. Plus, after passing another 6-7 turns Glen automatically ends the tutorial, as if he's cutting you some slack because he knows you're still too green to beat him. If it wasn't for the fact that the tutorial caps off the damage taken to all your parts at 1 HP, players wouldn't even be able get into the main game. I knew I didn't stand a chance against Glen, and I was right.

Did a new game test run at colonel difficulty (Enemy HP increased 400%, and 80% damage increase) Barely fought off the training Gust unit after taking heavy damage.
